On November 28th, 2014, the Standing Committee of the 12th People’s Congress of Hebei Province passed the first local regulation on environmental protection and public participation. The regulation will be implemented on January 1st, 2015.
Two of the most important Eco-Labels worldwide are cooperating. These two are the German “Blue Angel” with its 12,000 products and 1,500 certified producers and the China Environmental Labelling Programme (CEL) with its 150,000 products and 3,000 certified producers.
On November 11th, BMUB is organizing a conference on “Environmental Labelling, during which a Letter of Intent regarding the engagement of a pilot project for the promotion and mutual recognition of Environmental Labelling will be signed. Signatory parties are BMUB, the Environmental Development Center (EDC) of MEP, the China United Environmental Certification Center (CEC), the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA) and the RAL German Institute for Quality Assurance and Certification.
GIZ, in cooperation with Accenture, a global business consultancy, organised an event with participants from politics, businesses and academia at the German Embassy in Beijing on October 28th, to publicise German approaches to Sustainability.
On August 4th a workshop was conducted in Beijing, bringing representatives of CCICED, MEP and the Provincial Government of Hebei together with two German experts, who introduced practical experience on legal protection in international, German and EU law. Afterwards, a fruitful discussion took place, raising ideational and practical issues.

A 16-day training on organizational development and working mechanisms of institutions has led a mixed delegation to Germany to enhance their knowledge and human resource capacity. The trainings included topics such as sustainable urbanization, environmental management and air pollution prevention and control.
