From 21–26 June 2026, the CCICED Special Policy Study “Advancing High‑Quality Development through Circular Economy with Smart Digitalization” visited Sweden and the Netherlands. Co‑led by Ms Ilka Hirt (BMUKN) and Prof Hu Qing (Southern University of Science and Technology), the delegation engaged with organisations such as the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, Reparell Innovation, United Repair Centre, Denim City/House of Denim, and the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. Discussions and site visits focused on eco‑design, Digital Product Passports and Extended Producer Responsibility, informing SPS recommendations for China’s 15th Five‑Year Plan. [...]

The First Steering Committee Meeting of the Subregional Technical and Scientific Cooperation Support Centre for Asia and the Pacific under the Convention on Biological Diversity, and International Technical and Scientific Cooperation Workshop on Biodiversity was held on 23 May 2026 in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, China. Focusing on the scientific and technological needs of biodiversity conservation in the Asia-Pacific region, the workshop aimed to advance the implementation of the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework through regional collaboration and technological innovation. The broad participation of stakeholders from government, international organizations, academia, civil society, and protected area management institutions demonstrated the strong collective commitment of society as a whole to biodiversity governance. On 25-26 May 2026 the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) Roundtable convened in Xiamen, Fujian Province, under the theme "Harmony Between Humanity and the Ocean: Building a Shared Future for All Life on Earth". Bringing together policymakers, researchers, and international experts, the event explored pathways for strengthening global ocean governance, accelerating the green and low-carbon transition of marine industries, and advancing the development of Beautiful Bays. Discussions highlighted the importance of international cooperation, marine biodiversity conservation, and sustainable blue economy development. The project organized a study tour for a delegation from the MEE, the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), and the Office of the Central Commission for Finance and Economy to Germany and Belgium from 30 October to 6 November 2025. The tour focused on carbon reduction, pollution reduction, biodiversity conservation, and green growth. It aimed to strengthen capacity for collaborative research and to exchange best practices. The programme combined academic insights, practical case studies, and policy discussions through meetings with leading research institutions, government bodies, and innovation centres. On 11–12 September 2025, a delegation from the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Office (FECO) of China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) visited Düsseldorf, Essen, and GIZ Bonn to exchange knowledge on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) phase-out, monitoring and remediation. Organised under the Sino-German Environmental Partnership Phase III (SGEP III), the programme combined site visits and expert discussions on EU regulatory developments, drinking-water standards, contaminated-site management and waste treatment. Participants from German authorities, academia and industry shared practical solutions and policy insights. The delegation expressed high satisfaction with the exchange, which lays the foundation for continued technical cooperation. [...]

Guided by the theme “Open, Inclusive and Innovative Cooperation to Build a Clean and Beautiful World” the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place from 10 to 12 October 2024 in Beijing and drew more than 800 high-level experts from government, research, the private sector and civil society. The plenary discussions and Open Forum seminars underlined the importance of continued leadership on sustainable development and the climate transition amid growing global pressures. On 1st of November, the Ministers of Environment of China and Germany, Huang Runqiu and Steffi Lemke, attended the 7th Sino-German Environmental Forum in Taicang, Jiangsu.
