27.09.2026

Innovative solutions for green development

The China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED) Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026 will convene policymakers, experts, and practitioners to discuss pragmatic approaches to environmental sustainability. Scheduled for 27-29 September at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, the event will focus on “Pragmatic and Innovative Cooperation, Advancing Together for Green Development.”

A key highlight is the thematic forum on advancing high-quality development through circular economy and smart digitalisation, set for 28 September. Co-organised with the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) and supported by the Sino-German Environmental Partnership project, the forum will explore governance innovations and industrial practices that leverage digital technologies for circular economy principles. Discussions aim to generate actionable insights for international cooperation and policy frameworks.

Exploring key topics and activities

In addition to the thematic forum, the Annual General Meeting will feature parallel open forums addressing pressing environmental challenges, including:

    • China’s Environment and Development Outlook
    • Ecosystem Protection and Restoration
    • Climate Change Response
    • Innovation for Supporting a Just Transition

On the German side, Ms Ilka Hirt, Deputy Director-General for International Policy at BMUKN and CCICED Special Advisor, and Prof Dirk Messner, President of the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) and CCICED Council Member, will actively contribute to the discussions.
