National Surface Water Environment and Air Quality Situation from January to June 2022
The Ministry of Ecology and Environment announced the national surface water environment and air quality status from January to June 2022.
From January to June, among the 3,641 national surface water assessment sections, the proportion of sections with good water quality (Class I to III) was 85.7%, up by 4.0 percentage points year-on-year; the proportion of sections with poor V was 1.1%, down by 0.8 percentage points year-on-year. The main pollution indicators are chemical oxygen demand, permanganate index and total phosphorus.
From January to June, the average percentage of good air quality days in 339 prefecture-level cities and above was 84.6%, up by 0.3 percentage points year-on-year; the average PM2.5 concentration was 32 µg/m3, down by 5.9%; the average PM10 concentration was 55 µg/m3, down by 8.3%; the average O3 concentration was 144 µg/m cubic metre, up by 4.3%; SO2 average concentration was 9 µg/m3, down by 10.0%; NO2 average concentration was 21 µg/m3, down by 12.5%; and CO average concentration was 1.1 mg/m3, down by 8.3%.
