The Ministry of Ecology and Environment released the 14th Five-Year Plan for Environmental Health
On 27 July 2022, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment released the 14th Five-Year Plan for Environmental Health. This is a guiding document for the Ministry of Ecology and Environment to systematically promote environmental health. The Plan is the third five-year plan on environmental health issued by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment since the 12th Five-Year Plan.
The objectives of the plan are: by 2025, to have a basic grasp of the distribution characteristics of high environmental health risk sources in key areas nationwide, and to have a preliminary layout for environmental health risk monitoring; to further improve the environmental health standard system, and to develop a number of environmental health risk assessment technical specifications and model calculation software; to carry out pilot environmental health management in 10-15 regions, and to achieve multi-level, diversified and characteristic development of environmental health management; a professional team will be created and 50,000 training sessions will be conducted; a good atmosphere will be created for the whole society to support and participate in environmental health work, and the national environmental health literacy level will reach 20% and above.
The Plan sets out five key tasks and 15 work arrangements.
The five key tasks set out in the Plan include:
(1) strengthening environmental health risk monitoring and assessment;
(2) vigorously enhancing residents’ environmental health literacy;
(3) continuously exploring environmental health management countermeasures;
(4) enhancing environmental health technical support capacity;
(5) building a team of environmental health professionals.
