China signed the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction on September 20th in New York, the U.S. One of its significant achievements is encouraging the nation states to establish new marine protected areas in the high seas to conserve biodiversity, thus making contributions to the ’30X30’ conservation target set by NBSAP.
