Five Departments jointly issued the “Key Basin Water Ecological Protection Plan”
The Ministry of Ecology and Environment, together with the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Water Resources and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration jointly issued the “Key Basin Water Ecological Protection Plan” on April 21.
The Plan proposes that by 2025, the total discharge of major water pollutants should be continuously reduced, the water ecosystem should be continuously improved, and the system of water ecology and environmental protection should be further optimized. By 2035, the water ecological environment should be fundamentally improved, and a virtuous cycle of the ecosystem should be achieved.
The Ministry of Ecology and Environment, jointly with relevant departments, developed a list of key tasks and measures for the Plan, while incorporating the implementation of the Plan into the national water ecology and environment situation analysis. The main responsibility of the relevant authorities is clarified through a combination of analysis and warning, scheduling and notification, independent investigation, and supervision.
