On June 16, the “Cooperation Arrangement on Carrying Out Marine Ecological and Environmental Protection Work” (hereinafter referred to as the “Cooperation Arrangement”) was jointly signed by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
Both sides exchanged their views on promoting the environmental cooperation in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, on implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, and other topics of joint interests such as fighting climate change during the meeting. The Ministry of Ecology and Environment expressed its long-term support for Hong Kong’s environmental protection and its hopes that in the future both sides would have a closer communication, build a more complete and closely organized working mechanism, and contribute to the construction of a beautiful Greater Bay Area. The Environment and Ecology Bureau of the HKSAR Government expressed its appreciation for the continuous support from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and proposed to actively participate in the national ecological and environmental development framework, to further deepen the cooperation and push forward the synergistic protection of the ecological environment in the Greater Bay Area.
After the meeting, the National Marine Environmental Monitoring Center and the Environmental Protection Department of the HKSAR Government jointly signed the Co-operation Arrangement, which would help strengthen the cooperation in relation to the marine ecological protection and water quality management, especially in the Greater Bay Area.
